Baseball was still segregated so whites and blacks played separately. Robinson began playing in the negro league until Branch rickey asked him to play with them for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie Robinson all his life wanted to play baseball. Jackie did not think it was fair that whites could play in the major league baseball and he couldn’t. All he wanted was segregation to be over. Jackie Robinson played very well in games, but no one really wanted him. Everyone just pretty much ignored him, but finally by 1949 Jackie Robinson finally won his place in baseball. When Jackie went to New York for a meeting he was unaware that he was going to be asked to be the first black player in major league baseball. They had a meeting in New York. Jackie had no clue he was gonna walk out and be apart of The Brooklyn Dodgers. Finally, Jackie gets a chance to play in the major league baseball, which has been his dream for many years now. Jackie always said why can’t blacks play in the major leagues? Now Jackie finally got what he deserved to play the sport he loves, but in a great league. It was well said, three strikes and segregation is out.
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the major league baseball. Jackie got asked to play for the Dodgers in 1947. He started to play when he was 28 years old. Before Jackie Robinson got asked to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers he played in the negro league baseball. On August 28, 1945 he had a meeting that lasted 3 hours. They knew the first black to break through the color barrier would not only have to be very talented, but strong enough to withstand the dignity racial taunts that would be hurtful or cruel. Nobody thought Jackie could handle it, but he obviously proved them wrong. When Jackie started to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers he was Rookie of the Year in 1947. Robinson became an All Star from 1949 through 1954. 1949 he won National Leagues Most Valuable Player Award. Los Angeles Dodgers had a special day for him. When he stepped onto first plate he became know as the guy who broke the color barrier. Jackie watched with pride as the team retired uniform number 42. Robinson soon became a hero of the sport, even among former critics, and was the subject for the popular song, "Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?" An exceptional base runner, Robinson stole home 19 times in his career, setting a league record. There ya go Jackie. Batter Up.
Robinson became a vocal champion for African Americans athletes, Civil Rights and other social and political causes. Robinson and his team won National League pennant several times. By 1955 Jackie Robinson helped his team with an ultimate victory of the World Series. After many times of failure, the Brooklyn Dodgers finally beat the Yankees. Jackie was able to help his team win one more National League Pennant, then was traded to the New York Giants. As we can tell Jackie Robinson had lots of victories in his life. Robinson lead his team to many victories and people could tell. Scouts look for that in people. They look for if there a team player, a hard worker, and someone who is coachable. Robinson is absolutely amazing all of his hard work, and dedication is amazing. Robinson is a champion, he is a role model, and he is the reason why many kids are able to fulfil their dream as a baseball player.

People were rude to him and didn’t like him. It wasn’t till Jackie helped win victories till people started liking him. Jackie was inducted in the Hall Of Fame and many people congratulated him for all his hard work and victories. Being the first African American in the Hall Of Fame was just outstandingly amazing for Jackie. Robinson never felt so loved in his life for how many people cheered for him. It was truly amazing. Today Jackie Robinson is Standing In The Hall Of Fame as a person who impacted so many people’s lives.
When Robinson died his wife established the Jackie Robinson Foundation dedicated to honoring his life and work. When Jackie Robinson died many lives were hurt, he was an inspiration to all. 66 years ago Jackie Robinson opened the door for all men to play major league baseball. If it wasn’t for Jackie baseball wouldn’t have been segregated for all blacks to play. which gives scholarships to minority youths for higher education, as well as preserving the legacy of Baseball Hall Of Fame member. The foundation provides generous four–year college scholarships, and opportunities to disadvantaged students of color to ensure their success in college. Over 1,450 scholars have received scholarships. People loved Robinson that’s why so many people were wanted in this foundation.
