The Black Panthers Started out as a Self-Defense Group. The Black Panthers followed Police around to end the brutalities that were committed against the Black community. Most of these “followings” ended in shootouts and most likely deaths. As time went on, Blacks realized they don’t need Whites and they learned to hate them. They decided they would be better off without them, so they killed them too. The Panthers also planned to assassinate major whites to spread a message that they meant business.
The FBI succeeded in breaking up the Black Panthers from the inside. The FBI sent African Americans to “join” the Black Panthers and do various things like sending false letters and giving fake orders, which ultimately led to their demise. The story for the Panthers wasn’t over though. A new group of revolutionary African Americans got together and formed the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in 1989. The New Black Panthers have the same plan as the old Black Panthers, but are more radical and are considered one of the many hate groups in the world. The Panthers also have a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman for killing Trayvon Martin and believe strongly in “A Life for a Life” policy.
The Black Panthers attire was usually black leather pants and a black leather jacket. They also wore a black beret and had either a shotgun or a pistol. Kente cloth which is what their clothes are made of, first captured the attention of African Americans in 1958 when Ghana’s first president, President Kwame Nkrumah, visited Washington D.C. wearing Kente. The woven cloth was a strong symbolic representation of pride for African Americans in the 1960’s and later. The clothes were also accompanied by slogans like “Black Power” and “Black is Beautiful”. The beret was the most important piece of their costume, every person that supported the Black Panthers wore a black beret. The beret was so distinct that every revolutionary group wore a beret with their respective color.
The Black Panthers believed that MLK had failed in trying to get equal rights. They thought that any promised changes to their lifestyle via the 'traditional' civil rights movement, would take too long to be implemented or simply wouldn’t be introduced. The Black Panthers wanted the power to determine the destiny of their Black Community. The Black Panthers wanted full employment for the African American people. The Black Panthers wanted an immediate end to Police brutality and murder of black people. Black Panthers wanted decent housing, fit for shelter of human beings. They wanted many other things as well, but they felt that with MLK they would never get them.
The Black Panthers were a group that wanted Black Equality, so you would think that they would be liked by the Black Community. They weren’t. A lot of Blacks thought that they were a radical group that only wanted to cause trouble with and kill the Police. Many Blacks disproved the Panthers and didn’t support them in their cause for equality. They liked the outcome but not the way to get to the solution. They thought they could get there peacefully.
They disbanded in 1982 then reunited in 1989, and now are a hate group that kills Whites that’ve killed Blacks and other Whites that they don’t like. In today’s world The New Black Panthers are still trying to “help” blacks. Although, members from the original Black Panthers claim there is no connection, but The New Black Panthers still do the same things. The New Black Panthers started in Texas, but are beginning to spread. The New Black Panthers have a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman for killing Trayvon Martin.
